The International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA) has announced the winners of their thirteenth Global Competitions. The jury selected the sixteen winners from a shortlist of one hundred fifty-nine nominees hand-picked from nearly three thousand submissions.

Created in 2004, the IMGA is the longest standing mobile games award program. Some well-known titles honored by the IMGA before they were popularized include Angry Birds, Badland and Monument Valley. The group hosts local competitions in Southeast Asia, China and Middle East North Africa, while the IMGA Global competition is the flagship contest.

“Our expert jury members reviewed close to three thousand games this year, and the one hundred fifty-nine nominations that resulted represent the cream of the mobile gaming crop in 2016. Our sixteen winners helped to make this a top year in terms of technology, substance, art and exploration in mobile games,” said Maarten Noyons, founder of the IMGA. “I want to thank all our sponsors: KING, Rovio, Supercell, Youzu, TDS, Samsung and Euroméditerranée and everyone who voted online for choosing the People’s Choice Award’s winner.”

Held during GDC in San Francisco, the awards ceremony was presented by Australian radio/TV/Youtube personality Maude Garrett at Minna Gallery. The categories and winners are:
