AFKer Patches keeps track of new updates being made available, be they patches, DLC, or anything else. In today’s update, RuneScape opens the gates to Menaphos, the Golden City.

Longrunning MMORPG RuneScape has released the first of its large-scale expansions. Menaphos: The Golden City features four new story quests, procedurally-generated City Quests, a new Slayer Dungeon, an increased level cap of 120 for the popular Slayer skill, a maze-like Shifting Tombs mini-game, and a graphical overhaul of the entire in-game desert region.

The expansion is largely for mid- and high-level players, but will feature a three-part questline that takes newbies across the desert sands to the city itself, where they can explore the area and discover its many collectibles, benefit from the 5% buff on all skill training, and take part in City Quests before using Menaphos as a jumping-off point into the rest of Gielinor.

An open access weekend will be held from June 9, 2017 through to June 12, 2017 to allow non-members the chance to explore the expansion and the wider RuneScape world for free.
