Originally promised for the spring, developer Funcom has officially launched Secret World Legends, a reimagining of their flagship MMO The Secret World. The game client can be acquired from its website and Steam version will be released on July 31, 2017.

Set within a dark world, Secret World Legends launches with the original fields, scenarios, and dungeons from it source material. Players will travel the globe in pursuit of mysterious forces threatening the world, exploring the supernatural underbelly of myths and legends that exists in the shadows. The developers will continue to add content and new storylines going forward and have already promised to introduce Tokyo, Nightmare Dungeons, Raids, and the rest of the content currently in The Secret World to the new game soon.

In addition to a graphical overhaul, Secret World Legends revamps the core gameplay to be more accessible to both newcomers and veterans, introducing stronger progression structures, streamlined quest flow, and improved visuals and UI. Combat is more dynamic than ever, redesigned from traditional MMO-style tab targeting to a modernized reticle system, and each of the game’s nine weapon types have been reengineered with new mechanics to offer a unique feel in battle. A free transfer process will allow players to move vanity items like Mounts, Pets, Vehicles, and other customizations purchased through the item store from The Secret World to new characters in Secret World Legends.

“From the ambitious scale of its storytelling to the quality of quest design and voice acting, Secret World Legends delivers an experience unlike any other you can find in gaming,” said Scott Junior, Executive Producer at Funcom. “It’s a captivating journey into the unknown with an adult setting and tone perfect for fans of deep, rewarding RPGs. And if you want, you can experience all of it with friends and strangers in this huge online world we’ve built. Or you can go at it alone – it’s completely up to you.”
